Music

Community and Home Music Studios Across California

I grew up playing music, but didn't see the full extent of my potential until I explored the world of digital music production. Over years of exploring the software and creating various songs, I grew my skills and confidence and began to create full length albums. I have released 4 full length albums, all available on all streaming platforms under the name Diarchipretti. Recently, I created a new band Vitamin Girl, starting off with an album worth of music I wrote last summer. I have also been a part of various other bands and projects including Cardio StarRuby Hadley (as a producer), and The Sleeps.

New Exploration

In the past few months, I have written, recorded, and produced a new album that takes my sound in a completely new direction. This project marks a significant shift in my music making career. Vitamin Girl started as a direct inspiration by a few 90s jazz rock bands like Stereolab and Broadcast. Before starting this project, I felt eager to make this kind of music, but I couldn't seem to make anything close to it. Instead of accepting that however, I took one Stereolab song, listened very closely to each individual instrument, practiced those parts, and recreated it myself:

This process was extremely enlightening. While the track is very rich and intricate, the individual instruments are playing relatively simple parts. I learned how all of these layers that only play one small section of a groove come together into a wonderfully complex composition. After this learning process, I had one of the biggest creative streaks in my life. Over the span of three or four days I wrote and recorded roughly 7 songs which served as the starting point for this album. Currently, the album has 13 tracks that are inching their way towards the finishing line. Below is one track from the album split apart into different sections to show how the layering of simple parts come together into a single groove.

There is still work to do for this album, but I am feeling content with where I have gotten so far, and I can't wait to show the whole project with others. While this project was created by me and I have done the vast majority of the writing, performing, recording, and producing, I have included musical friends with me at every step of the way. In this song shown above, I include multiple different vocalists and a saxophonist. In the rest of album, I also feature violin, bass clarinet, and banjo played by various different collaborators and friends of mine. I also include more vocals, synth, guitar, and production from others. To me, music is always collaborative. While I enjoying running and guiding this project, the exploration and inspiration I get from others pushes me to create more interesting music.
